Q.What can I grow in very acidic soil in full sun

Zone Zone 4a | Anonymous added on October 13, 2020 | Answered

I have two flowerbeds which receive conifer needles. When I made these flowerbeds a few years back the trees were small. We will not cut the trees but all plants I had in those flowerbeds now have a very hard time, even if I put compost year after year.

So my question, what can I grow that will thrive in those conditions of very acidic soil but in full sun?

I am looking forward to your advice, thank you.

Rhododendrons, camellias and azaleas come to mind. Here's an article with a list that should help:

and here's our article on acid-loving plants: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/garden-how-to/soil-fertilizers/acid-loving-plants.htm
