Serious toxicity is tied to swallowing large amounts of potassium. Having powder or liquid formulations on the skin will result in only a small, if any, absorption of potassium. However, it can cause skin irritation. More serious is getting some in your eye. Unless one has kidney disease, the kidneys control potassium level in the blood and excrete excess amounts. It is always advisable to wear gloves when handling chemicals. http://ictulsa.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/MSDS_Red-Potash-Carlsbad.pdf [1]
