Q.What Books Are There On Identification Of Sweet Cherries?
I have over 100 varieties in my orchard and have been asked how can you identify heritage and modern cherry varieties without the complexity of DNA profiling. Most of the UK growers give vague descriptions and most say good flavour… It is therefore hard to know if you actually have the variety they say they sold you. I assume that modern cherries are mainly from one of a few breeding centres: Summerland (Canada), John Innes, Eastern Europe, INRA, California, or Spain. I have the NH Grubb (Pub.Crosby Lockwood, 1949) book but this only covers the cherries of pre-1945. Is there anything more modern?
