What ate my tomatoes?

I live in Ohio. Planted a tomato (full size – forget variety) plant in a container and placed it on my patio. I had about 10-12 nice green tomatoes. This morning I noticed that most of them were gone! The strange thing is there is no evidence that a rabbit or deer might have eaten- taken them. They’re just gone! Like someone picked them off the vines. No bite marks or damaged leaves-vines. No leaves or bits of plant or tomato on the ground. I also looked around for animal droppings and didn’t see any. Could a deer or rabbit bite off the tomatoes so carefully? I don’t see how a rabbit would be big enough to reach the tops ones. It’s a mystery to me! I was so sad! And mad! I was looking forward to walking out my door and grabbing a fresh tomato. Thank you for your help.

I’m sure I can help you solve the mystery.
Rabbits, squirrels, deer, raccoons all could be possibilities.

Here are some links that may help if the issue is animals.
