Q.What are my options wirh Canna Lily seed pods that had been broken from plant too soon

Zone 7a | Elgee added on October 28, 2018 | Answered

A friend just dropped off a bag of Canna Lily seed pods & I’m thinking she maybe picked them too early? All look pretty much like the 2 stalks in my pic. So I would like to learn what i need to do at this point in order to help them dry out & seed. And/or if It’s possible that they could be directly container grown until spring? Thanks in advance!

I did see the picture, and those are way too young to be viable. Those pods will not contain any seeds that will be useful. It will be much easier to start with one of the canna offshoots, portions of the divided crown. These will grow and flower within the first year of planting.
