Wet Area Plants

I live on the Front Range of Colorado. We have a wet area located next to and approximately a foot above water level of a stream. The soil stays damp, but grass and willows both grow. Will raspberries or asparagus grow there? Do you have any other suggestions?

Unless you grow the raspberries and asparagus in containers, I wouldn’t recommend planting them in this area as they typically do not like overly wet soil. However, this article has some suggestions for suitable shrubs/trees: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/trees/tgen/wet-soil-trees.htm [1]

In addition, you may want to consider growing a bog or rain garden. Here is more information: http://ext100.wsu.edu/clark/wp-content/uploads/sites/7/2014/02/BogGardens.pdf [2]
