weeping cherry roots

There are two medium size roots on top of the ground from my weeping cherry. They are going under my house and it is hard to mow. Can I cut these roots? The tree was planted correctly.

You can cut those roots and hope that it does not destroy the tree (depending on how much water/nutrients the tree gets from these roots) but eventually, you are going to have to choose between the tree and the slab/foundation of your house. Also, if you do cut away the roots, you might have to trim the top portion of the tree too bring it back into balance and lessen the stress on the tree.
