Weeds in Asparagus Bed

Question

Started out with 12 crowns, which did ok for a while but never really spread out or grew well. I have clay for soil and have heard that’s not real good for this plant. Also, I know weeds are not good either but don’t have a lot of time to weed. Is there a weed killer that I can put on this bed? It was started in an old barnyard, so weeds like burning nettles and whatever else there might be are all over. Having a raised bed is what I have in mind.
