Q.Weeding My Asparagus Seedlings Without Hurting Seedlings

Zone Home garden | Rusty added on December 22, 2012 | Answered

I just planted for the first time my asparagus seedlings in the prepared garden and now I’m getting weed seedlings coming through. I’m really worried about destroying the seedlings with my hoe. Is there an easier way to keep it weed free until my seedling start to develop crowns (because it took four weeks for the seedlings to break through of their pod)? Any ideas would be much appreciated for this first timer.

Rusty, The only thing I can think of is to very gently hand-pull the small weeds out until the asparagus is large enough to mulch. Good luck.
