weed killing and soding

Would it be ok to spray Ortho Weedkiller, wait 1-2 weeks than rake the dead weed and put sods? I’m worried that some of the weedkillers will still be in the soil and kill the sod. any other Suggestion will be appreciated
Thank you for your response

Laying sod takes more prep than just killing weeds. Here is a nice tutorial from This Old House. It takes place in New England where soils are acidic and lime is used to increase pH. If you are in a different region, applying lime may not be necessary and may indeed be the wrong thing to do. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kIFTgv4T4A8 [1].
I see some really persistent weeds in your yard. Of particular concern is creeping charlie, aka ground ivy. It often takes more than one application of herbicide to kill it. All weed killers come with instructions on when seed or sod can be applied. Depending on which herbicide is used, it can be as long as 3-4 weeks.
