Weed killer in soil

A few months ago, our gardener put weed killer on our soil to kill the weeds; however, it migrated onto our neighbor’s soil and killed her rose bushes. Is there anything that can be done to treat her soil so she can plant new rose bushes?

I would recommend taking some of the soils from at least 4 different areas in and have the soils tested. Many universities have a soils testing lab where you can get this done reasonably. Be sure to tell them at the lab what you are testing the soils for. If you have the exact name of the weed killer and its chemical makeup that will help them out. Very unfortunate thing to have happened. Once the soils have been tested, the same testing lab can suggest methods of treatment. One being the total removal of soils in the planting area to a depth of 30 inches, place a plastic soils barrier against the weed killer treated side. Then replace all the soils with an amended soils mix for roses or gardens in general. I also recommend placing a 2 inch layer of pea gravel at the bottom of the soils removal area prior to replacing all of the soils.
