Weed Control

Question

We have a low growing weed that has taken over our 2 acre lawn. It turns brown and then has small stickers all over it. What is it and how do we control it? It is fern like in appearance, but grows very low on the ground. We get the stickers in our shoes and spread them everywhere, so they continue to come up. Even get them in the carpet in the house.
