Q.evergreen shrub in a windy garden

Zone Warwickshire | triciagavin added on March 18, 2015 | Answered

We want to know what evergreen shrub to plant in a windy part of the garden. We have a brick wall with a metre gap to the house where the wind whistles through. What evergreen plant could we plant there that would not be affected by the wind? So far, we have had a red robin there and currently a laurel and neither have done well.

We would appreciate your help.

Thanks

Tricia and Alan

Here are some evergreen shrubs that are considered wind-resistant:

Silk tassel (Garrya elliptica)
Pacific wax myrtle
Artemisia (Southernwood, common wormwood, California sagebrush and white mugwort)
Buxus (Buxaceae) - otherwise known as boxwood
Juniper bushes
