Watermelons/Pumpkins

On watermelons, if I lose fruit that is the size of my thumbnail, is that a lack of water, too much water, or not pollinated? The fruit turns black. Also, on my pumpkins, they seem to dry up after they bloom.

As for the pumpkins, just like squash plants, pumpkins produce more male flowers early in the season, which eventaully drop off. Males do not produce fruit. Given a little time and patience, your plants should begin putting out female blooms and you will begin to see some fruiting.
