Q.Watering For Firebush In Arizona

Zone Glendale, Arizona | Anonymous added on June 27, 2023 | Answered

I have a Firebush (Firecracker) over a year old planted in full sun in Arizona. I have been watering with drip line 4 days per week for 20 minutes. Although blooming very well, the leaves are starting to yellow some, and curl. There are a few burned spots on some of the leaves. Daytime temps here now exceed 100 degrees. Am I watering this plant too much, or not enough. One landscaper said I should water everyday for 20 minutes. Thank you, in advance, for your assistance.

Once established, these plants can tolerate dry soil. I'm wondering if it is being overwatered. They love heat and sun. You might try watering less frequently but for a longer period, which will encourage deeper roots.
