Water Runs Through The Containers But The Soil 1″ Down Is Still Dry.

I have caladiums in 10″ pots filled with miracle grow potting soil. I think the potting mix is compacted. Would vermiculite help? If so, what percentage should I add to the pot? I realize this is the end of the season, but I would like to prepare for next spring. Thank you for your help.

Water running through also can indicate the plant is rootbound so check that. You may need to go up one or two pot sizes. It wouldn't hurt to replace the soil as well as add vermiculite (at about 20%).
