Water quality

I have a property that borders a wetland. I think the wetland water is high in sodium as there are a lot of bulrushes growing around it and there is a white crust left on the ground when the water recedes. I have a lot of greenery on my acreage and would like to water more than just rainfall.

My question: Is it better to water my shrubs and trees with this water, or just wait for rain? things can get very dry here in southern Alberta between rains.

Regards,
