how to attach tendrils of cucumber to fence

I would like to know how to connect a cucumber tendril to my chain link fence in the backyard.

Normally all you have to do is direct the vine in that directions and it will eventually attach itself. Occasionally, you may need to gently coax it along by carefully wrapping it around the fence, but this is rare. They should do this on their own.
