Q.Want to Eliminate Weeds, Not Toads

Anonymous added on June 12, 2011 | Answered

I currently have several toads living in my yard’s gardens. I also have areas prone to lots of weeds. I have already weeded and want to prevent new weeds from sprouting, but I don’t want to use anything that might harm or kill my toads. I will be mulching as well. Any suggestions on what I can use – besides the mulch – to prevent anymore weeds?

As long as you have gotten the majority of weeds out of the area and put down a thick layer of mulch (about 2-4 inches), you should be able to control your weed problem. However, you could also place layers of moist newspaper down before adding the mulch to kill any weed seeds that may be present.
