Vegetables

I am in the very hot Sacramento Valley, and I have a long south-facing wall where I have alternated tomatoes and butternut squashes for several years. I feel it is time to rotate them out, but I don’t know what to plant in their place. What wants that much heat, and is not in the tomato family? Thanks.
