Q.Vegetable-What Is It

Anonymous added on September 18, 2011 | Answered

I have 3-4 foot plant (looks like a pepper plant) that I don’t recall planting in my garden and don’t know what it is. It has very small white flowers and numerous groupings of 7 to 10 , what looks like, green berries (but they are not) turning to deep purple but not getting much bigger. They have seeds in the middle. They are each about 1/3 inches in diameter.

Look up nightshade under google images. I believe the berries will turn red. Mildly toxic and possibly hallucigenic. Birds eat the berries and spread as they fly. Let us know!
