VanZyverden Hibiscus & yellow spots, some small, some large all over leaves

Hi, we had a Beautiful tropical Van Zyverden Hibiscus plant that we kept alive all winter in our home in Wisconsin, zone 5. We recently moved it outside. It is in a xtra large pot, plenty of room, however we did not know to leave it in the shade for 2 wks to acclimate it to being outside again. It’s leaves are full of soft yellow spots, some small, some large & we don’t see any sign that its going to bloom. No bugs, mold, nothing like that. Could we have burned the leaves somehow by setting it directly in the sun right away?

That is very possible. You can pull off any damaged leaves, and they will be replaced shortly. Make sure that the container has plenty of drainage, and that it is never allowed to sit in water. This will cause a very quick death as well.

You can “trick” it in a way. When you want leaf growth, you can put it in a somewhat shady location, that is still bright. Then when you want more blooms, you can slowly give it more, and more sun each day, until it is able to handle full sun.
