Can I use a recently emptied chicken yard for my organic garden site?

Ideally, you would want it to sit unused for a year. If it was more recently emptied and you HAVE to use the space, I would recommend making sure to work in lots of organic material and water it several times before planting there. Chicken manure is very “hot” and needs time to mellow. If you do not have time to let it mellow, you will need to offset the effects of the chicken manure with the steps I put above.
