Tulips

I live in Colorado and I planted tulips 2 years ago and they came up last year, but nothing this year. I planted them in good soil with full sun. The bed was covered in rock, so I know no animals got to them. When I dug up the area to see if the tulip bulbs were still there, they were gone. What could this mean?

Tulips are a hard flower to get to grow year after year. Many professionals now consider them to be no better than annuals. It is likely that they simply rotted away due to over depleting themselves. This article will help you with understanding what they need to come back year after year, but I will warn you that providing these conditions is difficult for most areas: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/bulbs/tulips/tulips-bloom-every-year.htm [1]
