Tulip Trees typically don't flower until they are 15 years old.
Many times blooms are way up high in a tree and difficult to see.
Tulip poplar is susceptible to pests including aphids and scale, which are small hard-shelled insects. Both suck juices out of the stems, which might result in poor-quality flowers if infestation is severe.
The trees are also prey to diseases including root and stem rot, powdery mildew and leaf spot. One or more of these problems might reduce or eliminate flower production.
