Tulip bulbs

Just received a boxful of tulip bulbs for planting. I know they can be planted in September or October, but it recommends November or even December to avoid fire blight. Please can you tell me the best conditions to store them in for the next few months (dark/light, warm/cold, spread out or still packed in their bags etc)? Many thanks for your help.

First, make sure the bulbs you received are fully dry. If not, dry them for about a week by spreading on a screen or hanging in an old stocking in a well-ventilated place.
