Q.what type of tree I have in the backyard

Zone Daytona Beach, Florida area. Actually Ormond Be The Sea, Fl | Kaehle added on July 31, 2015 | Answered

For all I know it could be an overgrown weed. No one lived in the house for almost two years. The tree is 10-12 ft tall, it has a small diameter trunk with spiney thorns all over it. The branches also have long spiney thorns. The tree has small green leaves. If you would like a couple of pics, I can do that, but I’ll need an email addy to do it. Doesn’t look like the thorn ‘pods’ on the locust tree. I’m really perplexed and would like to get rid of it because of the thorns, but I’ve never seen one of these trees. Please help me figure this out.

Thank you,
