When is the best time to plant Trumpet Vines in western Iowa

Planting in spring allows this perennial vine the entire summer to establish its roots for winter survival. Fall is acceptable also; be sure to provide 3-4 inches of winter mulch. Trumpet vine can be problematic. It is a very aggressive, suckering plant that can easily outgrow its garden spot. Iowa Extension Service has this to say:
