Q.Trumpet Vine And Hummers, And Aphids
i have two trumpet vines that hummers frequent spring through fall, but last year they were infested with aphids and didn’t produce the bounty my hummers love as far as flowering. what can i use on the vines now that the new leaves are JUST STARTING TO grow to keep the aphids away before and during hummer season. i don’t want to turn away any of these cuties or harm them.

You can try regularly spraying the vines with water to see if that knocks some off. Also, insecticidal soap works but you have to spray it right on the aphids. Ladybugs and their larvae love to eat aphids so plant a ladybug buffet, such as fennel, dill, chives, marigolds, alyssum, and yarrow.
Neem oil also will kill aphids but is low in toxicity. Read and follow all label instructions when using a pesticide.
