Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comJust bought trumpet vines for my trellises. You state to contain the vine: “dig a hole in the ground and place a sturdy container in the hole, fill with dirt and plant the vine in the container.” My question is…what do you consider a sturdy container and how big of a container?

By sturdy we mean not plastic or anything easily breakable. Most people choose large planters, like clay or Polyresin. Just make sure it provides adequate drainage. If you need a large container and you do not care what it looks like, especially since it will be sunk in ground, consider feed troughs at animal feed stores. They are sturdy but not as expensive as a formal planter that size would be.
