Gardening Know How Questions & Answers - https://questions.gardeningknowhow.comHi, I cannot get my shallots to grow to any size (onions are great) They look good until about now but then the tops die off where as my neighbours are still strong and healthy-they were planted about the same time. I have a lot of trouble with Mildew over here in Brittany and the soil tends to be on the acid side;someone suggested a good dose of lime. Many thanks

It would help to amend your soil with compost. Also, they tolerate pH in a range from 5 to 7, so your acidic soil should be perfect.
