Q.Tropical Hibiscus Plant

Anonymous added on September 24, 2011 | Answered

I live in north NJ where the winters are very cold. In the spring I purchased a tropical hibiscus plant, which is beautiful. How can I care for this plant as I know it has to be in the house during the winter? I planted it in the original pot in the ground. My other problem is that I have three cats who I know will constantly chew on this plant. Do not know what to do.

Here is an article or two that you may find helpful: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/flowers/hibiscus/wintering-hibiscus-indoors-winter-care-for-hibiscus.htm

As for the cats, hibiscus is considered toxic, so you may want to keep it somewhere well away from their reach. (Water guns are often helpful when discouraging cats from eating plants or using them for litter boxes.)
