Trimming raspberries

Zone North Indiana | danstob added on August 22, 2015 | Answered

I read that raspberries should be trimmed late winter, early spring. But my raspberries are already 8 to 10 feet long and growing! What would be wrong in cutting them back now--late August? Thank you.

Pruning is type specific for Raspberries.
Pruning in the summer months can harm the fruiting and open up the plants to insects and fungus problems.
