Trimming Lavender

I just read on your site how to trim lavender. My plants are 1. 5 years old. I now know that I made a mistake and pruned them in their first year. Question: The plumes/sticks are about 10-14 inches high, flowers are dried. What should I do now?

If you have spent flower stalks on the plants now, just trim those off and leave the foliage. Pruning a lavender to the point where it has no foliage will most likely kill it, especially once winter arrives. In spring, you can cut the foliage back by one third to stimulate new growth.
