Trimming a Lime Tree

I bought my house three years ago and I have a lime tree in my garden, but not much fruit. The first year the fruits fell and the leaves and branches had disease. I cut it and added fertilizer and water. This year it produced about 20 to 25 limes. What should I expect if I cut it again, and about the regrowing of fruits? My neighbor said to not cut, it will die. Please help to have a healthy tree and much more fruits.

Lime trees do not need to be pruned to produce and since you just pruned it, it would be best to let the tree grow unpruned for another year or two until you prune again. When you do prune next, only prune to remove dead or diseased branches or branches that are too close together.
