Trees in Pots

Question

I have a neighbor that has a tree in a pot. The leaves are turning yellow and she thinks it’s dying. Is it getting too much sun or need a bigger pot?

It is either getting too little water or it does not have good drainage. How often is the plant watered and does the pot have drainage holes? Also, what kind of tree is it?
