My son bought a house that has 2 trees in the yard. They sort of look like evergreens with small balls that fall to the ground and they leak sap everywhere – on the swing set, the deck, and the trampoline. It will not wash off. They are good shade, but the roots stick above the ground in numerous places, kinda like knots. We hit them with the lawn mower. Any guess as to what kind they might be and what we should o with them?

You can upload an image of the tree to aide in identification.
Your growing zone can help us also.

You can also take a sample of the cones and branches or an image to your local County Extension service.
They can help with identification of local trees.
