tree trunk is oozing clear sap in many places

The sap spots appeared first on the trunk and now are working their way up through two of the main branches. The tree is about 6 years old and has produced very well so far.

You wrote me back via e-mail and said it was an apricot tree.

What you are seeing is gummosis – it is a gum/sap that oozes in response to injury, whether by insects (borers, aphids, scale, etc.), mechanical injury (such as by pruning), winter damage, or virus/disease.

Below are links that will assist you in diagnosing your tree.
