Q.Tree selection for planting against north front of house

Zone 63105 | Anonymous added on July 29, 2020 | Answered

I live in St. Louis, Mo. I would like to identify a tree, preferably an evergreen, that I
could plant against the brick front wall of my house which could be pruned to grow to 10+
feet in a squared fashion. Any thoughts?

There are a number of trees that would do well in this spot. For pruning in a square fashion, my first thought is the arborvitae. https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/trees/arborvitae/grow-green-giant-arborvitae.htm

Other conifers could also work. https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/trees/tgen/conifers-for-shade-gardens.htm
