Q.Tree Roots Suffocating Grass

Anonymous added on March 28, 2013 | Answered

We have a small lawn that has two very mature trees. The roots of the trees are sucking the life out of the grass. We have tree roots exposed, losing grass, and the lawn is bumpy and lumpy. What can we do to have grass and trees? One suggestion was to put sand with a mixture of topsoil so the centepede grass can crawl over the sand mixture. What do you suggest?

Hopefully this article will help: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/lawn-care/lgen/shade-tolerant-grass.htm You could also consult your local agricultural extension office for their recommendations.
