Q.Tree Didnt Drop Leaves In Winter. Read Article Didnt Answer My Questio Though
Article by teo s. https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/trees/tgen/why-leaves-did-not-fall-off-tree.htm Informative but doesnt answer question. Should i leave the leaves or trim them off? They turned brown late. Its an oak tree. We planted it 3 years ago so its still young. Prev year rabbits gnawed at bark so i put a wide and tall wire mesh up to protect the tree. Was a long fall and the leaves stayed on and are all dead and hard. Not even brittle or crunchy because its cold here regular daytime minus 5c and overnight minus 15c. Should i leave the leaves on and let them fall off naturally in spring so i dont leave any openings on the tree for potential disease etc? Otherwise can cut them off would be smarter than ripping them off. But will all the dead leaves still attached hurt its growth in spring?

My sister had some oak trees that always kept their brown foliage until early spring. It did not cause any problems to the trees. Other oak trees where I lived would drop the leaves in the fall instead.
