Question

I have an evergreen tree (not sure what type) and cats keep pooing and digging up the wood chips around it. If I was to replace the wood chip with stones, would this damage the tree?

I would recommend trying a repellent application to deter the cats.

Rock is not recommended to cover tree or shrub bases.
Rock heats up and then retains the heat. This can damage and even kill the roots.
