Transplanting tubers w/ no eyes

I dug up a peony that was in a shaded spot, not doing well. It had lots of tubers that came apart easily, but only one eye on one of the tubers! what should I do with all the “storage” tubers? I have no problem with using them just for foliage in some spots. I have seen tiny plants come up from pieces of tubes before. I wonder if the tubers will grow eyes eventually.

Thanks

They can, sometimes! There is no harm in trying. It sounds like they may have remained too wet for too long.

You can try planting them in containers, being mindful to let them dry out down to about 2 inches between each watering. Once they are established (If they sprout well) then you can move them to the location of your choosing.
