Q.Transplanting/repotting Orchids

Zone Chicago | Elsarah added on May 21, 2020 | Answered

Hello, I have 3 orchids that desperately needed to be reported. Problem is, I don’t know the right size to move them to. Or the medium to put in the pot. The last one I tried to report a few years back went into shock and died. So, I’m a little traumatized. I have attached a few images. I look forward to hearing from you!

You can buy a pot that is 1 or 2 inches larger in width than the one you have. Use potting mix that is specially made for orchids. They need a bark-like mix that allows plenty of air for the roots.

Those aerial roots do not need to be in the potting mix. Only the white roots that are now below the mix.
