transplanting overcrowded Iris

Today I have dug up a bed of overcrowded Iris. Can I transplant the rhizomes this fall? If so, how deep should I plant them?

This is really dependent on where you live. In a warmer climate, those with mild winters, then yes you could go ahead and transplant them. However, it’s generally better to wait until spring in most areas, so winter storage is necessary in this case.
