Q.Transplanting Lilacs

Anonymous added on June 6, 2015 | Answered

I have read your articles on why lilacs won’t bloom and I believe the reason why mine won’t is because of lack of sunshine. So I was wondering if I could move it to a sunnier spot? It is still young, I planted only 3 years ago.

Yes. Most transplanting takes place in spring or fall (preferably fall). If you can ensure that the majority of the roots and surrounding soil is lifted and replanted in an area with suitable growing conditions, you'll have a greater chance of success. To reduce shock, trimming may help.
