Transplanting Lilac Bushes to a Better Growing Area

I have lilac bushes that need transplanting. The spot they are in doesn’t seem conducent to them growing well. I want to know the proper way to transplant them so they’ll grow better.

Most transplanting takes place in spring or fall (preferably fall). If you can ensure that the majority of the roots and surrounding soil is lifted and replanted in suitable growing conditions, you’ll have a greater chance of success. To reduce shock, trimming may help.
