transplanting elephant ear plants

I recently transplanted some elephant ears. Everything looked normal until about 4 hours after planting, then all of the plants drooped and are laying on the ground. Is this normal? Will they recover? I live in Northwest Florida and our weather has been warm and moist.

Moving the Elephant Ear plants is best done in cooler weather or in the morning hours before the day heats up.
Cut the foliage down to about 4 inches in height.

Work in a circle about 10 to 12 inches from the base of the plant to dig up the bulb and not disturb the roots.
Dig a generous hole, but make sure you plant the bulb at the same depth that it was.
Water immediately and keep the soil moist, a layer of hardwood mulch will help with moisture retention.

I would backtrack with your plants and cut down the wilted stems.
