Q.Transplanting Asparagus
My in laws have a verrrrry old asparagus patch. Over the years a lot of the plants have died off and what is left has been taken over by weeds. I’m trying to talk my husband in to digging them up and putting them in a raised bed (so his mother can set on the side and pick them), but I always get the answer “you can’t dig up asparagus. ” I know they can be moved thanks to your posting on transplanting asparagus, but I have some questions.
First, after transplanting do I have to wait a year before cutting?
Second, is it true you should not cut asparagus after July (I live in Missouri next to the Bourbeuse river)?
Is there anything I need to know before I get this started?
