Transplanting an avocado

I have a 5 foot tall plant that has been planted outside for two years. We now need to relocate the plant and are wondering when is the best time of year to do that? Will there be a problem if I relocate it in a mild July? It was grown from seed and given to me by a friend so I don’t know the variety. We are located in Northern CA in the Santa Cruz mountains. We typically get a ton of rain in the winter and warm Summers. It’s planted on a slight slope and is thriving.

Avocado transplantation should be completed sometime in the spring or early summer when the ground is warm, but before the season is hot. Newly planted trees have a difficult time taking in water and are susceptible to sun damage.
